These challenges are highlighted and analysed in the new book Japan’s Past and Present published by Bokförlaget Stolpe and Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnsons Foundation for Public Benefit, featuring themes and topics from Japanese history like identity, architecture, religion, manga, Christianity in Japan, the Samurais and many other subjects. The book includes a chapter by Lars Vargö called The Dramatic Changes of the 20th Century.
