Roman Vakulchuk is a Senior Researcher at Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) in Oslo, Norway. He is also Adjunct Professor and Researcher at Business School of Nord University in Norway, with a particular focus on scenario methodology. He is co-founder of Central Asian Development Institute. In 2013, Vakulchuk was awarded the Gabriel Al-Salem International Award for Excellence in Consulting. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from Jacobs University Bremen in Germany. He specializes in economic transition, economic governance, public sector reform, business climate, energy and climate change in Central Asia and Southeast Asia. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University and worked at the Shell oil company in Germany. He has more than ten years of project management experience and was a project leader and consultant for Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank, Global Development Network (GDN), Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) and other international organizations. In 2018, he worked as a governance expert for OECD’s mission in Kazakhstan.
