Dr Jing Bo-jiun (荊柏鈞) is a Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Taiwan Studies Programme within the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA). He is also an Associate Member of St Antony’s College at the University of Oxford. His research primarily focuses on Taiwan’s foreign policy towards Southeast Asia, U.S.-China-Taiwan relations, and the international relations of the Indo-Pacific region. He teaches the option course “Taiwan in Comparative Perspective” at OSGA.

His research and policy papers on Taiwan-Southeast Asia relations, the EU’s Indo-Pacific strategy, Taiwan’s cybersecurity policy, and cross-Strait relations have been published in various outlets, including the National Bureau of Asian Research’s Brief Series, the Chinese (Taiwan) Yearbook of International Law and Affairs, the Stimson Center’s Taiwan Security Brief, Wenti Yu Yanjiu (問題與研究), East Asian Policy, East Asia Forum, The Diplomat, The Straits Times, and the Bangkok Post. He is the author of the monograph titled Taiwan and Southeast Asia: Opportunities and Constraints of Continued Engagement (University of Maryland School of Law, 2016).

Dr Jing is also an associated fellow at the Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) in Sweden and the founder of the ASEAN Plus Journal (南洋誌) in Taiwan. Prior to joining OSGA, he held the positions of Head of the Taiwan Studies Project and Research Fellow at ISDP’s Asia Program and Stockholm China Center. He was a member of the 2022 Chatham House-Korea Foundation Next Generation Policy Expert Network. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he worked as a Research Associate at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore and as an Associate Researcher at the Mainland Affairs Council in Taiwan.

He holds a Ph.D. in International Political Economy from King’s College London, an M.A. in International Relations and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from National Taiwan University.
